The Washington Wizards have officially selected former Gonzaga Bulldogs small forward Corey Kispert with the No. 15 overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft.

Spending four years as a member of the heralded West Coast program, Corey Kispert is unlike many of this 2021 NBA Draft prospects in this regard as many players have elected to make the leap to the professional threshold after only one or two years of collegiate basketball.

The 22-year-old swingman stands at 6'7″ while weighing an even 200 pounds, giving him the ability to play a variety of positions depending on what lineup a given head coach has on the floor. With Gonzaga head coach Mark Few utilizing Corey Kispert and all of his intangibles for four full seasons, including a memorable senior season that saw the Bulldogs come within one game of both an undefeated campaign and a national championship, it will be interesting to see how this veteran of the collegiate game ultimately makes the transition to the NBA level.

A native of Edmonds, Washington, Kispert averaged 6.7 points and an even eight points, respectively, as a freshman and sophomore at Gonzaga. He appeared in 35 games while starting seven as a freshman before appearing in another 37 outings with 36 starts as a sophomore back in 2018-19. Beginning to up the ante as a junior, Corey Kispert averaged 13.9 points over the course of 33 appearances and the same number of starts.

Of course, his best single-season effort for Gonzaga came as a senior in 2020-21. Corey Kispert averaged 18.6 points across 32 appearances, 32 starts and 31.8 minutes per game.
