Arguably the most physically imposing player in this class is officially off the board. Memphis center Jaren Duren was taken No. 13 overall by the Detroit Pistons on Thursday in the 2022 NBA Draft after a complicated trade went down.

After being taken by the Charlotte Hornets, Duren was traded to the New York Knicks. Immediately after that deal went through, New York traded the rookie center to the Detroit Pistons. It was a truly wild moment in the NBA Draft.

Duren is coming off a fine season for Penny Hardaway, averaging 12.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.1 blocks, and 1.3 assists. The 6 foot 11 big man played a vital part in helping the Tigers make their first NCAA Tournament in eight years as they eventually fell to Gonzaga in the Round of 32.

The 18-year-old is an absolute specimen for a teenager. He's got a broad, thick upper body with serious strength down low, which is exactly why he was such a hot commodity for the NBA Draft. Duren also shot 59% from the field, but he doesn't exactly have a three-point shot. In fact, he only attempted one all season. That being said, Duren is the definition of a traditional big man and you'd expect the Pistons to make sure he develops his triple because, in this day and age, most centers are capable of stepping out to the perimeter and shooting it.

Duren is also drawing comparisons to Bam Adebayo and Ben Wallace because of his muscular build. The youngster is great in the pick and roll while possessing a wingspan of 7'5″, which helps his dominance on both ends of the floor. It should be fun to watch Jalen Duren in the Association. The Pistons made a great decision by trading for him in the NBA Draft.
