Los Angeles Lakers guard Alex Caruso has become a certified fan favorite.

Caruso was fourth among all Western Conference guards after the third returns of All-Star fan voting, and he frequents highlight reels due in part to his tremendous bounce. Think Milwaukee Bucks forward Pat Connaughton but the Hollywood version.

However, rival executives are intrigued by Caruso's talents, as well. Caruso is reportedly garnering trade interest from a number of teams, and Ian Begley of SNY confirmed the Lakers and New York Knicks reportedly discussed a trade involving Caruso before the dismissal of former president Steve Mills.

The Lakers will need to shed some money if they hope to land free-agent targets like Marcus Morris, and Caruso (on a two-year, $5.5 million contract) might be the perfect “filler” player needed to complete a deal.

Here are the three best trade destinations for Caruso:

3. Detroit Pistons

The Pistons do not figure to need Caruso in their rotation, at least not right now.

Derrick Rose is playing some fantastic basketball, and Reggie Jackson just returned from injury. Detroit are pretty set at the point guard spot.

However, there are still reasons the Pistons make sense. For starters, Jackson will be a free agent at the end of the season, and the Pistons almost certainly will not bring him back. Rose has another year left on his deal, and the Pistons might look to trade him in the offseason or sometime next year if they are forced to blow things up this summer.

Similarly, the Pistons were reportedly in discussions with the Phoenix Suns regarding a trade that would send shooting guard Luke Kennard to Phoenix.

So, why not Caruso? He can play a modified combo guard role and he has been a great defensive playmaker for the Lakers, averaging 2.1 steals per 36 minutes.

The Pistons could look to involve themselves in a three-year deal that would bring Caruso to the Motor City.

2. Minnesota Timberwolves

This move would be more out of necessity than anything else, but so what?

Minnesota just traded their starting point guard (Shabazz Napier) to the Denver Nuggets after previously trading Jeff Teague to the Atlanta Hawks, and they need more help in the backcourt.

Malik Beasley—acquired from the Nuggets as part of the four-team centered around Clint Capela and Robert Covington—figures to shift over to the point guard spot, but the Timberwolves could also move to acquire Caruso and shift Beasley and Andrew Wiggins to the two and three, respectively.

1. New York Knicks

Surely Caruso's cult following will not be thrilled with this destination, but it makes sense.

The Knicks need more competent play at the point guard spot; it's why they continue to pursue D'Angelo Russell. Frank Ntilikina has made marginal improvements offensively, and both Allonzo Trier and Dennis Smith Jr. could be on their way out the door.

At the very least, Caruso provides the Knicks with an athletic guard who can play defense and shoot decently from the perimeter. Again, why not?
