It is clear that the New York Knicks season has not gone as planned for coaches, players, and fans. Boo's erupted on Saturday as the Knicks suffered another home loss to the Denver Nuggets, who are missing most of their players, 113-99.

There are areas that the Knicks can improve at and that's all going to start with making a big splash at the Trade Deadline. The Knicks' biggest concern should be going out and getting somebody who could score 25 to 30 points a night. Julius Randle is a great player, but not somebody who you can rely on to give you up to 30 points every night. That doesn't mean that he can't be the second option for this Knicks team, and that's exactly what they need him to be. They have found some success this season from other guys like Alec Burks, Immanuel Quickley, and Obi Toppin. These are all great guys who can help a team win a championship, but they cannot be guys that can be relied on for every single night.

They had an interesting offseason including bringing in some guys who they might have overpaid for. Evan Fournier is another good player who can gel with most teams in the NBA due to him being a high-level three-point shooter. The issue with Fournier is that he might not have been worth the $80 million that the Knicks gave him. Kemba Walker was also brought in this offseason and it is clear that he is not the man for the job as coach Tom Thibodeau has already sat him and said that he will not be finding minutes in the rotations.

The Knicks desperately need a guy who can be the first scoring option on a championship team and help bring a championship to the Garden. Let's take a look at three players the Knicks should be going after at the trade deadline.

Three Players The Knicks Should Target At The Trade Deadline

3. De'Aaron Fox

This would make plenty of sense for the Knicks. Fox is probably the most underrated player in the NBA because he plays for the Sacramento Kings. All this guy does is score and he has little to no help next to him. He's also only 23 years old and he could be the franchise player for the next five-10 years. On the season he's averaging 20.3 points per game while shooting 44% from the field.

He's not exactly the guy who the Knicks would want to be their first option, but with the guys that they have around him, they could be a very tough team to beat in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

His speed with the ball is arguably the best that the NBA has seen in a very long time. He creates open shots for many of his teammates and will get the Knicks' open looks from 3-point range. Sacramento is a team that has struggled in the past few seasons and they might look to get as many young players and draft picks as they can for a few of their guys. It would make sense that they don't decide to trade Fox and maybe look to trade Buddy Hield instead, but if they are open to trading Fox, the Knicks need to make a move for him.

Damian Lillard

How many more years does Lillard have to perform at the highest of levels and not get anything in return from his teammates? Not only does he perform at the highest of levels, but he also does it on the biggest of stages. Coming into Madison Square Garden is never an easy task for anybody, but Lillard would make it easy as he has proven throughout his career that he can play anywhere and be as good as he always is.

There isn't much to explain about Damian Lillard, he's a top-10 player in the NBA and he would be exactly what the Knicks need. His asking price might be high, but if the Knicks can get him and don't have to give up Julius Randle, they need to make the move.

He can come in and make this Knicks team an immediate contender just because of how good he is. He has been linked to the Knicks plenty of times and fans are hoping that he's going to end up in a Knicks jersey sometime soon.

Karl-Anthony Towns

Karl-Anthony Towns has also been on the Knicks' radar for a decent amount of time. He's a homegrown kid who would be welcomed into the Garden with open arms.

This isn't the guard that the Knicks might want but he is still an elite scorer who's averaging 24 points per game this season while also grabbing nine rebounds. We have seen throughout the NBA for the past 10 seasons that it is not necessary that a point guard be the leading scorer of a team. Karl-Anthony Towns is a guy who could potentially lead a team to a championship.

The Knicks have had a disappointing season. Many people felt that this was the year they were going to be able to get past the first round, but right now that does not look like the case. They are having struggles winning games at Madison Square Garden which is something that they need to take advantage of because it's undoubtedly the hardest place to play in the NBA. If they want to make a run in the playoffs, they need to make a move at the Trade Deadline for an elite scorer.
