When it comes to investments, there are bound to be several methods that will raise some eyebrows in the process. The same goes too for trading cards since they’ve become very valuable these days. A good example is this graded Kim Kardashian autographed card that was recently sold under suspicious circumstances.

Earlier last week, a PSA 10-graded 2009 Upper Deck Spectrum card signed by Kardashian herself sold for $3,500. The buyer and the platform used to purchase said card were not disclosed.

As mentioned by Cardporn, the Kim Kardashian card in question is being hyped to increase its value on the market. The card-based social media page noted that this has been allegedly done in the past year on several cards, such as Dwayne Johnson’s football rookie card

This method, as explained by Cardporn, notes the involvement of social media influencers to boost the visibility of the card. In turn, this will cause more people to talk about it, increasing its price in the process. Once the hype has reached its peak, the card will then be sold at a high price. The buyer will then be stuck with a card that doesn’t reflect the value it was paid for.

Over at eBay, another copy of the same Kim Kardashian autographed card with a PSA 10 grade sold for even a higher price of $6,000. The card was purchased last May, as compared to the other one which sold last week.

It remains to be seen if there are people out there manipulating card prices by hyping them up on social media. The wisest course of action for collectors to take is to be more discerning when it comes to these high-end cards before splurging on them.
