When free agency started last summer, Al Horford generated a lot of interest from various teams as one of the most highly touted players up for grabs.

He may have ultimately decided to play for the Boston Celtics, but Horford recently revealed that he strongly considered the Oklahoma City Thunder as well. Not only was the prospect of playing with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook intriguing to him, but also the chance to be reunited with his coach back in the University of Florida, Billy Donovan.

“I didn't say this to anybody, but I was strongly considering (OKC) and just the possibilities of playing under coach (Billy Donovan) again. Those were realistic things, but at the end of the day I made my decision to be here with Boston.”

Donovan also talked about his former pupil and had nothing but good words for him, discussing how he much he believes in Horford as a great competitor.

As it turned out, Horford is now part of a Celtics team looking to make a deeper run in the playoffs this season. Donovan and the Thunder on the other hand are now in the post-Durant era and are trying their best to sustain the success the franchise has had the past couple of seasons.
