Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry claims that Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele is ‘much better' than Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.
Currently, Mbappe is one of the best talents Europe has to offer. The 22-year old has won almost every major trophy the Football world has to offer—winning multiple league titles and domestic cup championships and even excelling on the international stage by winning the World Cup with France in 2018 and most recently, the UEFA Nations League.
The Barcelona star has also won similar feats as he also stars among the French national team. However, since Dembele's move from Borussia Dortmund to Barca in 2017, Dembele has been heavily plagued with multiple injury spells.
Nevertheless, Gnabry still holds the Barca winger in higher regard to Mbappe. His claim on Dembele's abilities sparked a heated debate between him and teammates Thomas Muller and Joshua Kimmich on Amazon Prime's new documentary featuring Bayern Munich.
Via Don Silas of Daily Post:
“The best player between Dembele and Mbappe? For me, it’s Dembele,” Gnabry told his Bayern Munich teammates on ‘Behind the Legend’, Amazon Prime’s upcoming documentary on the Bundesliga giants.
“What do you mean, better?,” Thomas Mueller interjected and praises the Barca winger. “If I could dribble like Dembele, I would be better too.”
Kimmich finished the debate on the Barcelona winger, “If I am asked to choose between Dembele and Gnabry or Coman, I would always take Gnabry or Coman,” he said. “This Dembele discussion p*sses me off!”
Mbappe has performed much more consistently over the past years as compared to Dembele. The PSG striker has scored 168 goals in 245 appearances, including 138 for the Parisians. Comparing this to the Barcelona star, Dembele has only recorded 52 goals in 197 matches, including 30 for Barca.
On paper, it is difficult to see how Dembele could be better than Mbappe, especially with the number of injuries the Barcelona winger has had to go through. However, he is undoubtedly talented in multiple facets of the game and Barca fans will be keen on his return. Hopefully this time, he'll stick around longer.
