Battlefield 2042‘s reveal trailer was whack. And apart from that, the game’s public reveal didn’t get hampered in any way by the multitude of leaks and rumors leading up to this day. The game’s developers, EA DICE, gave us a lot of exciting details about ‘Battlefield 6‘. They revealed that they’re ditching the single-player campaign in favor of a narrative-driven multiplayer experience. DICE also shared that their ‘Hazard Zone‘ for Battlefield 2042 won’t be a Battle Royale game.

But what about the new gameplay features? Well, DICE confirmed the rumor that Battlefield 2042 will feature ‘specialists’ that fans can play as. They revealed four different specialists so far and shared that there will be a total of ten specialists upon release. The game will be released on October 22, 2021, on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, but DICE said that we’ll get acquainted with all ten sooner than that. We’ll probably see the rest on their gameplay reveal trailer on June 13 during E3 2021 Weekend.

Meet Battlefield 6 / Battlefield 2042‘s First Four Specialists

Webster Mackay – A Canadian-born “ass-kicker with a conscience.” He fights for Battlefield 2042‘s Non-Patriated to “make right a regret from his military days.” Mackay comes into the battlefield equipped with a Grappling Hook, allowing him to traverse urban landscapes easily. He’s also Nimble, allowing him to move fast while aiming down sights.

Maria Falck – A skilled and fearless medic, Falck shouldn’t be taken lightly just because of her role. She seeks her son David among the non-patriated in the war-torn and environmentally damaged Battlefield 2042 world. She provides support to her teammates with her Syrette Pistol, allowing her to heal teammates from afar. Don’t fret, the Syrette Pistol will kill an enemy if needed. Falck is skilled in survival skills as a combat surgeon, allowing her to revive downed allies back to full health.

Pyotr ‘Boris’ Guskovsky – A Russian Engineer who seeks to gain power amidst all the chaos that the world finds itself in. He’s an experienced weapons expert with a SG-36 Sentry System. That’s Battlefield 2042‘s fancy way of calling a turret, by the way. But on top of having a friendly turret firing at enemies, Boris also gets to spot enemies detected by the turret, giving important information to the rest of the team.

Wikus ‘Casper’ Van Daele Battlefield 2042‘s introverted scout recon unit goes ahead of others and likes working alone. Still, his contributions to the team will be integral, as he can spot enemies with his OV-P Recon Drone. The drone’s not only for reconnaissance purposes, though, as it can also be used offensively. Casper can have the drone emit EMP blasts to disorient enemies, or even use it to lock on targets with lock-on weapons. He has a third sense that alerts him to movements around him, even while he’s operating his Drone.
