Everyone knows that Khalil Mack is the best pass rusher on the Chicago Bears but team defensive assistant and outside linebackers coach Ted Monachino thinks that accolade could soon go to Leonard Floyd.

Monachino thinks that Leonard Floyd “has a bigger toolbox” to work with and that could help him become not just the best pass rusher on the Bears, but one of the very best in the league.

“This is a rare athlete playing the position,” Monachino said, via The Athletic. “There’s a whole bunch of guys that are great hammers and guys that have the pass-rush gene that have that dominant trait. This is a rare athlete for the position. I’ve coached a bunch of good ones. I’ve coached big ones, I’ve coached smart ones, I’ve coached fast ones. I’ve never coached an athlete like this. … His length. His short-area quickness. Long speed. The ability to cover and change direction. All of those things are very special with this player.”

Floyd is only 26 years old and is still playing on his rookie contract but he has proven time and time again that he is going to be a special player for a long time.

The best news for Floyd this year is that he had a full season healthy last year and is having an entire offseason of workouts where he isn't rehabbing.

If Floyd can take another step forward this year and Mack stays healthy the Bears defense is going to be even scarier and maybe this can be the year the team makes a run back to the Super Bowl.
