The NFL world will anticipate Justin Fields’ debut for the Chicago Bears in the 2021 season. In Chicago, Fields can learn the ropes in the pros from veteran quarterbacks in Andy Dalton and Nick Foles. With those two seasoned vets in front of him right now in the quarterback pecking order, Fields likely have to wait a while before he gets to take the field for the first time in the NFL.

Bears head coach Matt Nagy did not seem enthused to answer when Fields’ long-awaited debut will be. The Bears will seem to play the situation by ear and wait for the perfect opportunity. According to Adam Maya of NFL.com, Nagy responded to the rumblings that it is going to be exciting to watch Fields develop as an NFL quarterback. While Nagy is currently uncertain of when Fields will have his opportunity, he seems excited to watch the rookie go into camp and learn what it takes to win at the next level.

Fields was a transfer from Georgia to Ohio State in 2018. In his two seasons with the Buckeyes, he made his presence known as the starting quarterback. Fields was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and finished in the top three for the Heisman Trophy in 2019. The following season, he led Ohio State to the National Championship Game, where they lost 52-24 to Alabama. Fields’ two seasons at Ohio State elevated his draft stock to where he became a first-round pick.

Next to Fields, the Bears also selected Tevin Jenkins in the second round, Larry Borom in the fifth round, along with three sixth-round picks and one seventh-round pick.
