While the benching of Mitchell Trubisky by Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy feels like a blast from the past, Trubisky has now been more open to his initial reaction after learning that he'd been replaced.

During a conference with reporters on Friday, Trubisky let his true feelings be known on losing his Bears starting job to Nick Foles early on in the season:

While the Bears were able to jump the gun at the start of the season and get out to a three-game winning streak, the coaching staff felt as though Trubisky's offensive woes were becoming more repetitive, which would give the same result at season's end. They'd signed Foles in the offseason, though he'd lost the starting job to Trubisky during training camp.

After nearly being bested by the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3, Foles was inserted into the starting role, helping lead the team back to victory. Since then, the Bears' season has been on an unbalanced scale. They were able to beat some considerable opponents in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers, but then went on a four-game losing streak coming into Week 12 against the Green Bay Packers.

In that four-game skid, Foles completed over 65 percent of his passes in three of those games while throwing for over 250 passing yards in those games as well. Still, he's only converted touchdowns in two of those games. His latest outing against the Minnesota Vikings saw him only complete 57.7 percent of his passes for 106 yards.

Trubisky will return to the Bears' starting lineup on Sunday after Foles was sidelined with a hip injury against the Vikings. If he's able to produce quality numbers and win, it could turn a few heads on the coaching staff.
