Heading into his second year in the league, Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has been the central focus of the franchise over the offseason.

Much of this has been directed toward the understanding of the new offensive scheme that the team has had to pick up under new head coach Matt Nagy. According to Dan Wiederer of The Chicago Tribune, Trubiksy has voiced that the playbook is a lot more detailed than he previously had it during his rookie campaign under John Fox.

“Everything is a lot more specific,” Trubisky said. “It allows us to play faster as an offense and it allows me to operate faster as a quarterback.”

Nagy was previously the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs where he had much success working with Pro Bowl quarterback Alex Smith. He had put together a system that was more tailored to Smith's skill set, but it was one that worked quite efficiently that led to the Chiefs having one of the more potent offenses in the league that utilized their many offensive weapons. Nagy is hoping to translate much what worked with Kansas City over to Chicago with Trubisky as the centerpiece of the entire game plan.

The fact that the offense is quite specific could allow for Trubisky to get greater command of the entire game plan and allow for him to work more efficiently under center. He has an entirely different skill set than what Smith has, which could open up more opportunities for him to make plays down the field or get other situations present themselves to him.

This will all be put to the test this upcoming season where the Bears hope that this pairing can lead them back to success and contend in the NFC North for the division title and possibly further.
