The 2023 college football season is just about all wrapped up. Before the bowl games and College Football Playoff games kick off, there is one last regular season game to be played, and that is the Army-Navy game that takes place on Saturday. In the meantime, however, it is worth paying attention to the transfer portal, where a new big name seemingly puts their hat in the ring as each day goes by. One notable player who announced his intention to enter the transfer portal just made that announcement today. That would be Toledo quarterback Dequan Finn.

Finn has done nothing but win during his tenure as the starting quarterback at Toledo. In the last three years as the Rockets' starting quarterback, Toledo has gone 24-12 with Finn under center. Finn has completed 60% of his passes in that stretch, has averaged 7.9 yards per attempt, and has thrown for 6,984 yards and 63 touchdowns to just 23 interceptions.

Not only is Dequan  Finn a capable passer, but he is a dynamic runner as well. He's run 1,695 yards and 25 touchdowns over these past three seasons as well. Finn is an accomplished, experienced, and dynamic quarterback who every Power Five school would love to have. Which school makes the most sense for him? A couple of teams in the Midwest could be potential options.

Dequan to the Michigan Wolverines?

Michigan stands out as a potentially great fit for Dequan Finn and vice versa for a multitude of reasons. For one, it's possible Michigan needs a new quarterback next season. JJ McCarthy, Michigan's current starting quarterback, has been mocked as a potential first-round pick for months now.

Whether or not that actually happens remains to be seen, but McCarthy could bolt for the NFL after this season. And that would create a void at quarterback. It's also possible Jim Harbaugh will leave for the NFL after this season as well, but if he remains and McCarthy is gone, Finn would be a great fit in Harbaugh's offense, much like how Colin Kaepernick and Alex Smith were fits during Harbaugh's San Francisco days.

To put the icing on the cake regarding Finn and Michigan is the fact that Finn is a Detroit native. Dequan Finn would have the chance to play at home and understand what being a Wolverine means. It would likely be a dream come true for Finn and his family. It may be a dream of his, but it also sounds like a good fit for all parties in reality.

Cincinnati Bearcats

If Finn doesn't wind up at Michigan, maybe he can stick in the state of Ohio. Cincinnati made their transition to the Big 12 this season, but it didn't exactly go the way they thought it would.

They went 3-9 in their first season in a Power Five conference only two years removed from making an appearance in the College Football Playoff. It didn't help that they didn't get the most pristine of quarterback play.

Emory Jones, the former Florida Gator and Arizona State Sun Devil, averaged just 6.9 yards per attempt and threw for only 18 touchdowns. He's also out of eligibility, meaning the Bearcats will need a quarterback for next season. Cincy has been rumored as a potential target for Dequan Finn.

It's also worth noting that Cincinnati offered Finn a scholarship before he eventually wound up at Toledo. If the Bearcats could land him, that would be a home run get for them as they look to solidify themselves in the Big 12.
