When Houston Rockets CEO Tad Brown announced that team owner Leslie Alexander has decided to put the team up for sale last month, potential buyers quickly emerged as there’s a lot of value to the franchise that appeals well to businessmen. Now, another possible stake purchaser has emerged, and could bring more popularity to the team.

No less than Grammy Award Winner and superstar singer Beyonce has reportedly expressed interest in purchasing some shares in the franchise, according to Scott Soshnick of Bloomberg. Being a Houston native and an avid basketball fan, her interest was a no-brainer, and could definitely pursue becoming a part owner of the Rockets.

“Pop superstar Beyonce, a Houston native, is mulling an investment in the National Basketball Association’s Rockets, according to people familiar with the matter.”

If she becomes a stakeholder of the team in the future, it will not be the first time for a celebrity to be one of the owners of an NBA team. Justin Timberlake is a proud minority owner of the Memphis Grizzlies, and Beyonce’s husband, rapper and producer Jay-Z used to have a stake with the Brooklyn Nets, before selling it a few years ago.

It remains to be seen if she’ll indeed make an investment with the Rockets and what percentage she’ll decide to take on. However, one thing certain is if she becomes a part of the future ownership team, more attention will be drawn by her star power to a team that is already set to feature James Harden and Chris Paul starting next season.
