The Chicago Blackhawks are in the midst of a long rebuilding process. Chicago is not expected to make a serious push for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, despite veteran additions in the offseason. However, that doesn't mean head coach Luke Richardson is content with what he's seen from his team. Far from it, in fact, if Tuesday night is any indication.

The Blackhawks were shutout by the Boston Bruins 3-0 in front of their home fans. Chicago thought they had a goal from prized prospect Connor Bedard. After review, however, the goal was waived off due to offsides. The performance marked the third straight loss for the Blackhawks. All three losses came against teams who are still undefeated to start the season.

The undefeated records don't matter much for Richardson, though. Chicago's bench boss wants to see more from his team. “I’m kind of at the point [where] I’m tired,” Richardson said, via the Chicago Sun-Times. “One year is enough of, ‘We’re a hard-working team.’ We want to push for more this year.”

Richardson told the media on Tuesday that he believes the work ethic is there. His team isn't being outmatched in that regard. “We start off with a good intention but I find the other teams not [exactly] outwork us — like work ethic-wise — but I want to say the hardness of the work,” the Blackhawks head coach continued.

Richardson must now return to the drawing board and figure out what's missing. Chicago's next game comes on Friday against the Vegas Golden Knights in Vegas. Perhaps the Blackhawks head coach will see an improved effort from his team against the defending Stanley Cup champions.
