The New York Knicks have found their new president of basketball operations, and it's Leon Rose, who has been an agent in the NBA for quite some time.

As a matter of fact, Rose is the former agent of Carmelo Anthony, who spent parts of seven seasons with the Knicks.

Anthony was asked about his thoughts on the hiring of Rose, and he is very happy for his friend and thinks he will do a fine job in the Big Apple:

“I think he's going to do well,” Anthony said, per Sean Highkin of Bleacher Report. “He understands the business. It's a big task, but I think he understands it. As long as you've got the right team and the right people around you and the right support system, I think with his intelligence, he's going to figure it out.”

The move to land Rose came after the Knicks fired Steve Mills. While Masai Ujiri was considered by many to be New York's top target, the Knicks decided to go the route of the Golden State Warriors (Bob Myers) and Los Angeles Lakers (Rob Pelinka) by hiring an agent, which caught Anthony by surprise:

“I'm still in shock,” Anthony said. “I didn't know until this week. There's a lot to figure out and finalize. I'm sure he's going to take [the job], but it's all new.”

Anthony signed with the Portland Trail Blazers earlier this season. In 38 games with the Blazers, the veteran is averaging 15.2 points and 6.6 rebounds over 32.6 minutes per game while shooting 42.1 percent from the floor, 37.2 percent from three-point range and 83.7 percent from the free-throw line.
