The St. Louis Blues are doing their all to limit one of hockey's most lethal offenses in their second-round matchup against the Colorado Avalanche. Thus far, the Blues have been fighting the Avs without one of their top defenders in Torey Krug, but ahead of Game 4, St. Louis received an optimistic update on their star defenseman. Krug was seen on the ice during the morning skate on Monday, via Lou Korac, marking the first time he's skated with his teammates since re-aggravating his lower-body injury in the first round against the Minnesota Wild.

That's certainly good news for the Blues, though the team did not include him in its projected lineups ahead of the match. While Krug likely won't be available for the Blues on Monday night, and remains without a precise timetable for his return, the fact that he was out there on the ice for the morning skate is encouraging.
Article Continues BelowKrug re-aggravated a lower-body injury in Game 3 against the Minnesota Wild in the first round of the playoffs. Blues coach Craig Berube revealed that Krug is making progress towards a return, suggesting the 31-year-old is doing “a lot better.”
This year in his second season for the Blues, Krug recorded 43 points across 64 games. The former Boston Bruin has been one of St. Louis' top defenders since joining the team in 2020, and his absence has been felt against the high-quality Avs offense. The Blues will hope to lock down a win on Monday night and even the series up at 2-2 in order to give Krug more chance to rest up and leave his mark against Colorado.
