The Cleveland Browns have a big offseason ahead of them following a successful campaign in 2018. It seems wide receivers Breshad Perriman and Rashard Higgins could be first on their to-do list in the near future.

Both Perriman and Higgins will become free agents in March. According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, general manager John Dorsey says they have already begun to negotiate a long-term deal with them:

“We’ve had conversations with [their] representatives and we’ll continue to have conversations with [their] representatives,” Dorsey said. “Once we get the chance to get the new coaching staff in place and we have an assessment of our team and the positions, then I’ll be able to better answer that question.”

This is certainly encouraging news for both Perriman and Higgins as it is clear that Cleveland is looking to make them part of their future plans. It is no secret that the Browns have already undergone some significant changes this offseason. However, it seems they would still like to keep their roster intact, especially at wide receiver.

Both players filled a modest role in the Browns revamped offense. Perriman was a former first-round pick for the Baltimore Ravens. Unfortunately, his career got off to a rough start and he was ultimately waived prior to this season. He was able to stay somewhat healthy after registering 16 catches for 340 yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Higgins emerged as a solid complementary option for quarterback Baker Mayfield. The former fifth-rounder hauled in 39 passes for 572 yards and four touchdowns. It is safe to say that the Browns will continue to surround Mayfield with as many weapons as they can moving forward.
