Giannis Antetokounmpo, the NBA’s reigning MVP, did not play in the Milwaukee Bucks’ preseason opener against the Chicago Bulls on Monday night. Despite that, the Bucks cruised to a 10-point win over Chicago.

Now, as the Bucks travel back to Fiserv Forum, where the Bucks play their home games, it seems that The Greek Freek and his fellow starters Khris Middleton and Eric Bledsoe will all be back in action in front of what is sure to be a raucous home crowd.

Per a story by Matt Velazquez of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Antetokounmpo promises to play with his usual frenetic energy, which is sure to lead to some highlight plays throughout the game.

“I don’t try to experiment with anything,” Antetokounmpo said of his preseason approach, per Velazquez’s story. “I just try to go as hard as I can, try to get in shape because being in practice shape and being in game shape is totally two different things. What I’m going to do tomorrow is go out there, play as hard as I can. There’s going to be a lot of times that I’m going to be out of breath, but I’ve just got to push myself, push my team so we can get in game shape and get ready for the season.”

Though pushing himself in the preseason might not be the smartest move long-term for Antetokounmpo or for the Milwaukee Bucks franchise, it’s good to know that Giannis is still going to be giving maximum effort despite the tilt only being an exhibition game.
