Pau Gasol reached out to Nikola Mirotic before he signed with the Milwaukee Bucks, and Mirotic told Gasol if he wanted to be part of something special, signing with the Bucks made the most sense.

Gasol and Mirotic have a close relationship. They played two seasons together with the Chicago Bulls and also have played a bevy of games for Spain.

Once Gasol heard Mirotic speak so highly of the Bucks, the future Hall of Famer made his decision to sign with Milwaukee for the rest of the season.

Mirotic has only played in six games with the Bucks, but he knew from day one that Milwaukee had all the tools to win a championship and that adding Gasol would be the last key the team needed to do it.

Milwaukee acquired Mirotic from the New Orleans Pelicans at the trade deadline. The stretch forward is averaging 12.2 points per game with the Bucks while shooting 38.5 percent from beyond the arc.

With the San Antonio Spurs this season, Gasol averaged 4.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 27 games. The two-time NBA champion gives the Bucks yet another big man who can stretch the floor and shoot 3-pointers, joining Brook Lopez, Ersan İlyasova and Mirotic.
