LaVine exited last Friday's loss to the Golden State Warriors with a left knee injury. The MRI luckily showed no structural damage, but the Bulls star has still missed the last three games.
While LaVine is doing better than Lonzo Ball, who will miss six to eight weeks after surgery for a torn meniscus, the All-Star isn't traveling on the Bulls' three-game road trip. This means he will not play against the defending champion Bucks on Friday night, robbing the national TV audience of a chance to see one of the most electrifying players in the NBA.
LaVine is averaging 24.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists while shooting 49.1% from the field and 41.2% from 3-point range this season.
With LaVine and Ball both out Friday, Chicago will be hard-pressed to beat the mighty Bucks, who have been dominant when they've had Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday all in the lineup together. In fact, Milwaukee is 17-3 with those three together this season.
The Bulls will do their best to compete after snapping a four-game losing streak on Wednesday with a victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Chicago got Alex Caruso back in the lineup for that game, and young guards Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu continued their strong play in the win. The Bulls will rely on their backcourt depth to stay afloat right now.
