Chicago Bulls head coach Jim Boylen is reiterating his belief in Shaquille Harrison, but his confidence in Harrison looks like it will come at the expense of Jabari Parker:

“Jim Boylen says Shaq Harrison will remain in the rotation ahead of Jabari Parker,” writes Sean Highkin of Bleacher Report.

Parker is all but out of the rotation at this point for the Bulls. The $20 million forward signed a two-year deal with a team option with Chicago to try and rehabilitate his career. It is almost a guarantee that Chicago will decline that option, and the front office is currently trying to find a trade.

Parker is averaging 14.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game this season, but his box score stats can be misleading. Parker has been a liability on defense, and his lack of commitment on that end has hurt his chances of rejoining the rotation.

The correlation between Harrison's playing time and Parker's may seem odd because they play different positions. That being said, Boylen can choose to trot out smaller lineups without Parker in the rotation.

Boylen is still working to change the culture in Chicago by looking to instill a defensive mindset. Taking Parker out of the lineup is one way to improve the defensive effort.

The Bulls are on a four-game losing streak and are gearing up for a challenging five-game road trip against five playoff hopefuls in the Western Conference.
