Chicago Bulls head coach Jim Boylen hasn't accumulated many wins with the franchise. Starting in the second half of last season when Boylen took over for the fired Fred Hoiberg, Boylen is just 33-70 in his head coaching career.

It hasn't gotten much better this season as the Bulls are just 16-29 and once again, sit outside the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference. When a team like the Bulls can't measure success with wins, how does a coach like Boylen gauge his team?

“I keep it in real small situations I can coach to — win the first quarter is a success plate for me. Can we limit our turnovers and create turnobers? That's usually an energy thing and a toughness thing,” Boylen said per Cody Westurlund of 670 The Score. “I like to see our response to poor play, moments in the game when we don't play well — can we respond? Can e get it back under control? Because those are learning moments for a young team. When we do practice, i'm hard on our practice habits. Those are the kind of things I talk about.”

Prior to becoming the head coach for the Bulls, Boylen has worked as an assistant for the San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets.

Despite the 36.5 percent winning percentage this season, Chicago is just 3.5 games behind the Brooklyn Nets in the eighth seed. Things are looking slightly up for the Bulls though as the team is a solid 3-3 in their last six games.

A playoff berth this season would be the Bulls' first since the 2016-17 season.
