The Butler Bulldogs had a lackluster season, to say the least. They finished 9th in the Big East with a well below .500 record of 14-19. Over three weeks after the end of the season, Butler announced that head coach LaVall Jordan was fired.

Basketball analyst Jeff Goodman tweeted the news Friday morning, emphasizing why the organization took so long to make the move.

Now, Jordan and his assistant coaches are out of jobs, and the Bulldogs are on the hunt for new leadership.

Butler Director of Athletics explained his reasoning for the delayed decision in the team's release.

“After a thorough evaluation, I have come to the decision that a change in the leadership of our men's basketball program is needed. These decisions are never easy, but are incredibly more difficult when it impacts a high-character Bulldog who has represented our university so well for many years. I want to thank LaVall for his dedication to our program, and we wish him and his family all the best moving forward.”

Jordan played for the Bulldogs throughout his four years at Butler University from 1997 to 2001. He began his coaching career there as the assistant coach in 2003, and spent four years there.

Jordan had a few other assistant coaching gigs before landing his first head coaching job with Milwaukee in 2016. The Butler alumni finally reunited with his alma mater in 2017 and spent the last five seasons leading the Bulldogs.
