With their exclusive deal about MLB about to end in a few years, it seems that Topps is losing another of its licenses to a competitor. In a development most collectors didn't see coming, the right to produce WWE sports cards is now moving on from Topps to Panini after getting hold of it in 2005. Soon, card enthusiasts will get to see their favorite stars from the Red, Blue, and Gold brands in various products offered by Panini.

This change is slated to happen during the first quarter of 2022 with Panini planning to release the first wave of WWE sports card products during the leadup to WrestleMania. Moreover, the company is going to kick things off with the inaugural edition of Prizm WWE cards. This means avid wrestling fans will have the chance to see the hottest WWE stars in Panini's trademarked Prizm design and hunt their cards sometime next year.

In a statement, Panini America CEO Mark Warsop said that they have always been intrigued by WWE as a license partner and the incredible passion from their fans. He added that Panini has big plans that can help WWE sports cards and stickers reach new heights in the collectibles arena.

For their part, WWE also expressed the same level of excitement over this development. Scott Zanghellini, the company's Senior Vice President for Revenue Strategy and Development, said that the partnership with Panini is aligned with their interest to provide fans with exclusive collectibles and growing in this category on a global scale.

With this deal set to come to fruition in 2022, it won't be long before we see the likes of Roman Reigns, Big E, or Alexa Bliss in Panini's wide assortment of card products. For sure, the millions and millions of WWE fans all over the world will look forward to getting their hands on these cards when they hit the market next year.
