NBA players use many different methods to get motivated before games, whether it's listening to music, having a cup of coffee, or performing various dances prior to tip-off.

It's no secret that Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown recites his own rap song in his head to alleviate pre-game jitters.  Brown has a special attachment to music in general and even has a nickname from some of his work in the past.

Brown announced to NBC Sports Boston’s Abby Chin, that he will be releasing a new rap album soon named Jaythoven.

“They call me Jaythoven cause I be on the keys, ATL stand up.”

The 6-foot-7 forward already has relationships with mainstream rappers in the industry such as Lil B, Gucci Mane, and Fetty Wop.

Jaylen Brown had also expressed his favorite type of music in an interview with Slam magazine earlier this year.

“I make different types of sounds, so not every sound sounds the same, Like trap beats, I don’t just make a whole bunch of trap beats. I might make a few ’cause that’s what I’m feeling today like I feel like making a banger or some Metro Boomin’-type stuff. Another day I may feel like slowing it down and making some Dilla-type beats or something smooth, something classic, New York-esque or something similar to that. It depends. It’s just based on how I feel when I wake up in the morning or when I dive into it.”

So far, the only NBA players considered successful releasing rap music is Shaquille O'Neal and Damian Lillard, although many have tried.

While joining the small successful group isn't Brown's motivation, he is looking to share his love for music, and his very first time on the mic with the world.

When is Jaylen Brown's new album coming?

“It’s coming soon. You’ll see some of the album covers on Instagram. It’s coming soon.”
