The Boston Celtics still need one win to sweep Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets, but it looks like Kendrick Perkins firmly believes the playoffs series is over.

After watching the Nets fall to a 3-0 hole with a 109-103 defeat to the Celtics on Saturday, Perkins didn't hold back his thoughts and highlighted how Boston has taken the soul of Brooklyn. The former NBA big man, who once played alongside Durant during their time with the Oklahoma City Thunder, also emphasized how his former teammate has basically “quit” fighting as his struggles continue.

“The Celtics have snatched the Nets' soul. They're punking them, they're punking KD–they done made Kevin Durant quit. He had no interest whatsoever in playing this game. He was not engaged,” Perkins said of Durant.

Kendrick Perkins didn't end his criticisms there. He went on to highlight the recent talks about Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving being the “most skilled” duo in the history of the NBA only to fail to show that urgency and desire to win at all.

“Think about this for a second: some people were saying that KD and Kyrie were the most skilled duo of all time. And what did we just witness? We witnessed the Boston Celtics make both of those guys quit!”

To be fair, there's a lot going wrong for the Nets. The Celtics have done a good job limiting Durant's touches on offense and making life hard for him when he has the ball. The Nets forward only had 11 attempts in 45 minutes of action in Game 3.

Some could say that Steve Nash's game-planning is suspect, but in the end, it is worth noting that the same team almost made it to the East Finals last season had KD's shoes been one inch shorter.

There are talks about Durant and Irving being tired, and that could very well be the case. To Kendrick Perkins' point, though, the Nets seem to be lacking that killer instinct and spirit to get going when times are tough.
