Players from around the NBA have been making noise of late to call the public's attention to Brittney Griner's situation. The WNBA star has been detained in Russia for over a hundred days now over alleged drug charges and at this point, her state is becoming overly concerning. This is exactly why the Boston Celtics decided to honor Griner on the eve of their Game 2 NBA Finals matchup against the Golden State Warriors.

Celtics star Marcus Smart showed off the shirts the players were wearing which had a simple message on them: “WE ARE BG” (h/t Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints).

Jaylen Brown also spoke about the Phoenix Mercury center's dire predicament as the Celtics star explained how this is a collective effort from the Players Association to show their support for Griner:

A few weeks ago, reports surfaced that the United States was negotiating Griner's release. President Joe Biden was reportedly even willing to do a prisoner exchange involving convicted Russian arms dealer Victor Bout, who chillingly, earned the moniker “Merchant of Death” for his involvement in the illegal sale of firearms. It sounds like even that was not enough to force Russia's hand to release Griner.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with her and her family in these difficult times.
