Marcus Smart is undoubtedly one of, if not, the best defenders of the Boston Celtics, and his coach Brad Stevens thinks he deserves to be part of the All-Defensive team every season.

While limited offensively, Marcus Smart has more than made up for his offensive flaws with his performance on the defensive end for the Celtics. He is a pesky defender who is not afraid to get physical with his opponents.

Smart harasses his opponents up and down the court, and his ability to frustrate players and bait them mentally makes him special.

The 24-year-old guard undoubtedly has a huge impact on the Celtics, and it’s worth noting that Boston is better when he is on the court than off it.

Brad Steven acknowledged the importance of Smart to his team, and he heaped more praise to the five-year veteran who has been anchoring the Celtics defensively.

Smart didn’t make the NBA All-Defensive team last year, with his teammate Al Horford the one making it from the Celtics. However, the Oklahoma State product is making a case as one of the league’s top defenders this year.

Smart is averaging 7.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.8 steals per game this campaign. He has played in 33 games for the Celtics so far, starting in 13 of those matches.
