Apparently, Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge has an affinity for Chipotle.

Ainge and assistant general manager Mike Zarren had a rather humorous back-and-forth on Twitter on Tuesday night, prompting Ainge to jokingly call Zarren an “idiot” on Wednesday:

Zarren jokingly took to Twitter to take another shot at Ainge's eating habits after Ainge jokingly stated he could not buy lunch for Jaylen Brown or Marcus Smart due to “salary cap circumvention.” Zarren stated Ainge deserted Chipotle for a “local plant-based competitor” in the area:

Boston's assistant GM concluded matters by indicating the two were just having fun, but also included a link to information about heart health:

Ainge's love for Chipotle is rather well-documented. Zarren even commented on a story by ESPN's Zach Lowe back in 2016 saying Ainge ate Chipotle every single day of the week:

Members of the Celtics' front office read this Sporting News story about players who love Chipotle so much they eat there four times a week, shook their heads and laughed.

“Four times a week?” Mike Zarren, the team's assistant general manager, asked incredulously. “Are you kidding? That's nothing.”

We all know players love Chipotle. It is the Cheesecake Factory of Tex-Mex restaurants within the NBA community. But you'd never guess the identity of the NBA's most committed Chipotle addict: Celtics general manager Danny Ainge.

“There have been weeks,” Zarren said, “where we have eaten lunch there seven straight days.”

Ainge will sometimes follow up a Chipotle lunch five or six hours later with dinner at the same place. “I have to admit, there are days I eat there twice,” Ainge said. “I just like Chipotle.”

In any case, Zarren seems rather unwilling to let go of the topic, though he also made sure to humorously throw Ainge under the bus for switching things up.

The Celtics food drama will not go away.
