The Boston Celtics have officially acquired German point guard Dennis Schroder in a one-year deal worth the mid-level tax exception of $5.9 million, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Schroder's name has been going around the rumor mill over the past few months after the playmaker failed to impress in his lone season with the Los Angeles Lakers. Now, the 27-year-old is looking to redeem himself as the newest member of the Celtics.

Despite being the starting point guard in all of his games for the Purple and Gold last season, including the playoffs, Dennis Schroder's one-and-done stint in LA was heavily scrutinized. Though he showed promise as a potential long-term hold for the franchise, the former 17th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft failed to live up to the expectations. His stay in Hollywood was all but done after he failed to score in Game 5 in their first-round series against the Phoenix Suns before ultimately being eliminated the next game.

Now, Schroder is looking to put that all in the past and bounce back as a potential building block for the Celtics franchise. With Jayson Tatum calling the shots, having a weapon like Schroder available should be nothing but beneficial for the squad.

In the past five seasons, Schroder has been a dependable option at the one-spot–whether he's starting or coming off the bench. He's been averaging 17.4 points per game alongside 5.3 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game. The Celtics have definitely found a gem with the Schroder acquisition, as the arrival of the feisty point guard could potentially turn up to be one of the biggest moves they make this summer.
