The Boston Celtics have slowly but surely been climbing the ranks of the Eastern Conference. The Celtics now have a 30-26 record and are sitting in fifth place thanks to a five-game win streak, getting on a hot streak at the right time.
During Thursday night's matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Celtics were able to walk away victorious after Jaylen Brown had a historic night. He scored 40 points and secured nine rebounds, but it was his 85% shooting from the field that made the night so memorable. It's the first time in Celtics history a player scored 40 points on 85% shooting, per SportsCenter.
Considering how many legends Boston has produced through the years, it's impressive to see Jaylen Brown finding ways to break records of his own. Brown has been having a career year this season, averaging 24.6 points (a career-high mark), 5.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists (also a career high) per game. Between him and Jayson Tatum, the Celtics have a chance to compete with anybody.
It has been a long season for the Celtics, as they've been hanging around the playoff bubble. Now, they find themselves in fifth place with a real chance to steal fourth place away from the Atlanta Hawks. Between Jaylen Brown's hot hand and Jayson Tatum's leadership, the Celtics have an opportunity to finish as a top-four team in the East.
Boston will try to secure a sixth straight win during Saturday night's matchup against the Golden State Warriors.
