Boston Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown is now a public health official as he campaigned on social media on Wednesday evening for folks to take precautions to prevent the spread of pandemic coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Celtics shooting guard/small forward took to Twitter in a series of tweets tell his followers the serious need for good personal hygiene along with an inventive hashtag of “#SlowTheSpread”.

“Everyone can play a role in slowing down the spread of this Virus,” Brown, 23, wrote on Twitter on Wednesday. “It may not be about you but there are people who are at risk elderly and people fighting off other infections,” the Celtics wing continued. “Please stay home if you can”.

“Please do not dismiss this!”, the Celtics wing urgently requested his social media followers in the same series of tweets. “Our hospitals and health care can only hold so much it's NOT ABOUT YOU please take the proper precautions,” he emphatically expressed today.

The coronavirus has wrestled with folks around the U.S. with dozens of cases discovered every day now and states recommending large public gathers cease. The Golden State Warriors and Brooklyn Nets plan on playing at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California, on Thursday without fans in attendance. The NBA, in addition, is expected to make a decision in the next 24 hours on the remainder of the season—with the Board of Governors and Commissioner Adam Silver leaning on holding games without fans in attendance.

Brown and the Celtics could see their remaining nine regular-season games closed to the public. Also, Boston would see fans potentially unavailable to cheer in the TD Garden stands during the playoffs.
