Jaylen Brown's ankle injury against the Atlanta Hawks was the main sour note in a Boston Celtics win. He twisted his ankle on a fast break less than three minutes into the contest. Boston overcame his absence to take down Trae Young and company, securing their 12th victory in 14 games.
Brown's 23.2 points per game rank second on the Celtics. He is pivotal to their success, which made the sudden twist of his ankle extremely worrisome. Fortunately, it likely won't sideline him for long.
Celtics head coach Ime Udoka had a positive update for Brown's status. He said that, although there is some swelling, the injury won't keep him out for very long. Brown wanted to come back in the game against the Hawks but the team opted to keep him out.

Ime Udoka said Jaylen Brown is “unlikely” for tomorrow but it will be a day to day issue. He had some more swelling today, will continue to get evaluated over the coming days.
“Nothing long term,” Udoka said.

This is great news for Boston. Not only is Brown one of the most important players on the team but the Celtics don't have the depth to cover for one of their two highly-reliable scoring threats missing time. Jayson Tatum, Derrick White and Marcus Smart will have to pick up the slack in the scoring department.
Boston is 37-27 and in sixth place in the Eastern Conference. With a matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies on deck and matchups with the Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets and Dallas Mavericks coming up, the Celtics will be tested. Getting Brown back on the court as soon as possible would be a great sign as they look to further distance themselves from the play-in tournament.
