The Boston Celtics came up with a huge win on Wednesday night as they took a 2-1 series lead over the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. Boston's Big 3 all stepped up to the plate in Game 3 and it resulted in Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Marcus Smart matching a long-standing NBA Finals record.

Boston's three stars all eclipsed the 20-point mark in a chippy Game 3 contest, en route to tying a 38-year-old NBA Finals record set by the Los Angeles Lakers' trio of Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Michael Cooper (h/t ESPN Stats & Info on Twitter):

Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum & Marcus Smart are the first trio to each have 20 pts, 5 rebs and 5 ast in a Finals game since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson and Michael Cooper in 1984.

It was Brown who led the pack with a team-high 27 points with nine rebounds and five assists. Tatum dropped 26 points, six boards, and nine dimes, while Smart capped things off with 24 points, seven rebounds, and five helpers. When these three are on their game, it would be very difficult to beat the Celtics, and the Warriors learned that on Wednesday.

It is worth noting that in 1984, the Celtics defeated Magic Johnson and Co. in the NBA Finals. Tatum and the rest of the squad are hoping for the same result this time around.
