While Jayson Tatum may not be the biggest tennis fan, the Boston Celtics star admitted that Serena Williams has had a profound impact on him and his career.

Before Women's History month ends, Tatum was asked about a female athlete who have been an inspiration to him. The Celtics forward then mentioned Serena and how her work and success in women's tennis had a massive influence in him and his mentality.

Tatum also called Williams “the GOAT” as he heaped praise and gave her flowers for her “sustained level of greatness” for decades, per NBC Sports.

True enough, it's not only Jayson Tatum whom Serena Williams have inspired throughout her nearly three-decade career in professional tennis. She's one of, if not the most dominant athlete in the history of sports, and she's definitely not getting enough credit for that.

Williams may have retired (or basically opted to stay inactive), but her influence in the sport is clear.

As for Tatum, it's no wonder why he has been so dominant early in his career. Not only has he taken inspiration from Kobe Bryant, but from Williams as well. Having a similar mentality like the two is definitely a recipe for success.

Now, he's on the verge of leading the Celtics to further immortality. They are one of the favorites to win the title this 2022-23 NBA season, and there's no denying Tatum has played a huge role in that. While they have yet to get the job done, fans will love where Tatum's head is at.
