The Boston Celtics went old school for their latest move as they signed decorated veteran Joe Johnson. Jayson Tatum certainly isn't mad about it.

Celtics head coach Ime Udoka spoke out on the move prior to their Wednesday night contest against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He shared how Jayson Tatum reacted to the news, which elicited a smile from the young star.

Via Celtics reporter Taylor Snow:

Ime Udoka says Jayson Tatum is a big fan of the Joe Johnson signing: “When I mentioned to Jayson that he was coming, he started to smile like, ‘That was one of my favorite players growing up.’”

Joe Johnson is no stranger to the Celtics franchise. He was drafted by the team way back in 2001 before being traded right in the middle of his rookie season. Iso Joe went on to have an amazing career, racking up seven All-Star appearances and even a All-NBA selection back in 2010.

He also clashed with the Celtics in the postseason not one, but twice. Johnson's Atlanta Hawks faced off against Boston back in 2008 and 2012, falling in seven and six games respectively.

Jayson Tatum and the Celtics are at a crossroads in their season. They've hovered around .500 for most of the year, teetering between dominant and disjointed on any given night. Perhaps bringing in a respected voice in the locker room could be just what they need.
