Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday came up clutch on the defensive side of the ball for the Boston Celtics as they completed an 18-point comeback to beat the Indiana Pacers in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals. In his postgame presser, Holiday opened up about his heroics and how he was able to pull off the crucial steal that sealed the win for the Beantown team.

For those who missed it, with less than 10 seconds remaining and the Celtics ahead 112-111 (courtesy of two free throws from Holiday), the Pacers still had a chance to tie the game or go for the win. The hot-handed Nembhard carried the ball for Indiana as Rick Carlisle decided not to call a timeout to allow his players to take advantage of the scattered transition defense.

Unfortunately for the Pacers, as Nembhard tried to find an opening to take a shot, Holiday stuck to him and prevented him from doing anything. The Celtics' defensive guru then proceeded to tap the ball away from the Indiana hero and completed the steal to seal the victory.

The Pacers had no other choice but to foul at that point. After fouling Holiday once again and the guard making it a 114-111 game, Aaron Nesmith fired a Hal Mary that didn't go in.

Speaking to the media, however, Holiday played down his clutch performance and noted that he simply “made a play.”

“I just made a play. He's a right hand driver and he's been very very aggressive all night. Great player, had a great game. Just made a play, kind of jumped his right hand, and got the steal,” Holiday detailed, per NBA reporter Noa Dalzell.

While it might be a simple play for Holiday, it is certainly more than that for Celtics fans. Just ask his teammates as well.

Jayson Tatum, Celtics react to Jrue Holiday's big play

Sure enough, Jayson Tatum and the rest of the Celtics couldn't be any happier for Holiday and what he just did. Tatum highlighted Holiday — who was actually feeling sick earlier in the day — in his on-court interview after the game and then  dropped some major praise for his teammate in the postgame press conference, noting that Holiday just showed he's a true champion.

“Can’t speak highly enough about Jrue. The ultimate teammate, competitor, and obviously a champion. … Jrue’s a big-time player and he made a tremendous play,” Tatum shared.

Celtics big man Al Horford had similar sentiments, adding that he's really lucky to be able to play alongside a player like Holiday.

“Man, that was unbelievable. That was an unbelievable play. … [Jrue's] a winner and I’m so fortunate to be playing next to him. I don’t take it for granted,” Horford continued.

The Celtics are now up 3-0 against the Celtics, and there's no denying that Holiday has been a big reason for that.

As Boston gets a step closer to reaching the NBA Finals, Holiday's presence will be even be more vital for them. He could very well become the X-factor for Boston in their championship bid, so hopes are high that he will be able to maintain his current momentum and remain as impactful as he has ever been for Boston.
