It is a wonderful time for sports fans in the state of Massachusetts. The Boston Celtics are among the most elite teams in the NBA while their NFL counterparts in the New England Patriots have long been dominating the competition.

Now two of their team's biggest stars in Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving and tight end Rob Gronkowski have collaborated outside of their perspective playing fields. Irving recently directed a Nike commercial for the release of the Kyrie 4's.

According to ESPN's Chris Forsberg, one person he felt the commercial needed was none other than Gronkowski himself:

“There’s one person I gotta have in this [commercial] and that’s Gronk. It makes the commercial that much better, just throwing Gronk in there. I love his interviews. … Man, watching that dude do interviews is hilarious.”

Irving's praise of Gronkowski's charisma certainly comes as no surprise. The All-Pro tight end has become notorious for his quirky postgame interviews and overall persona off the field. Needless to say, it is one trait that both players have in common. As a result, he played a major role in the commercial, along with Celtics teammate and rookie small forward Jayson Tatum.

It is encouraging to see the city's brightest stars start to hit it off since Irving's arrival prior to the 2017-18 NBA season. Especially with Boston once again on the cusp of Eastern Conference supremacy. That said, it will be interesting to see whether Gronkowski will take part in any of Irving's future endeavors on screen.
