Boston Celtics superstar Kyrie Irving confronted Memphis Grizzlies guard Shelvin Mack during the third period of their match on Friday night at the TD Garden in Boston.

Irving was obviously irked, as he was seen having some words for Mack, which led to technical fouls for both players. The one-time NBA champion guard revealed after the game that he is usually calm, but he had to make a stand after Mack uttered disrespectful remarks.

“He said something pretty disrespectful,” Irving said via Chris Forberg of NBC Boston. “So I told him to do something about it. He didn't. I don't usually get techs like that. But if someone questions your manhood, at that point, you got no choice.”

Kyrie Irving had the last laugh, as the Celtics ran away with a 122-116 win to sweep their two-game season series. Irving finished with 38 points on 14-for-21 shooting, including four three-pointers. The five-time NBA All-star also posted 11 assists and seven rebounds for Boston, who shot 51.2 percent as a team.

Irving also got a lot of help, as Marcus Smart ended up with 20 points and six rebounds to go along with three assists and three steals. Al Horford finished with 18 points. Jaylen Brown added 12 points and six boards, while Terry Rozier chipped in 10 points off the bench.

The Celtics have now won two consecutive games after having a mini-slump in their recent games. Boston absorbed three straight defeats against the Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, and the Brooklyn Nets.
