Boston Celtics budding superstar Jayson Tatum received perhaps the biggest compliment ever from the game's premier superstar LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.

The pair of All-Stars went toe-to-toe in the Lakers' razor-close 114-112 win over the Celtics at the Staples Center. After watching firsthand the much-improved play of the 21-year-old stud, James took to Instagram to offer some well-deserved praise for Tatum.

After an intense back-and-forth match, LeBron James and company notched their fifth consecutive win. James finished with a near triple-double of 29 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists in 35 minutes. He shot 9-for-19 from the field and 4-of-10 from beyond the arc.

Jayson Tatum, on the other hand, was pretty much unconscious in Boston's losing effort. He tied his career-high with 41 points on an efficient 12-of-20 shooting clip from the field and 4-for-7 from distance. The 6-foot-8 Duke product also scattered five rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Tatum also became the youngest player in Celtics history to drop 40 points against the Lakers. The Purple and Gold and the boys from Beantown, of course, enjoyed an epic rivalry over the years.

That same rivalry can be rekindled this season, with both squads enjoying great success heading into the second half of the 2019-20 regular season campaign.

The Lakers still hold the best record in the stacked Western Conference with a 43-12 slate, while the Celtics are third in the Eastern Conference at 39-17.

Both James and Tatum are enjoying terrific seasons and have named as All-Stars this year. The 35-year-old James made it to his 16th straight All-Star Game, while Tatum made his first of possibly many more All-Star appearances.
