The Boston Celtics suffered their fifth loss of the season on Monday in embarrassing fashion. After mounting a significant lead over the Chicago Bulls in the second half, the Celtics had a monumental collapse in the fourth quarter as they allowed Chicago to escape with a 128-114 comeback victory in TD Garden.
Celtics talisman Marcus Smart was understandably in a bit of a sour mood after the loss, and the outspoken guard did not hold back with his criticism. Smart called out both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown for the roles they played in the defeat (h/t Brian Robb of Mass Live):
Smart is never one to keep his true feelings to himself and on this particular occasion, he did not hesitate to call out the Celtics' two stars in Tatum and Brown.
Brown actually produced an excellent performance for the Celtics in this one, scoring a team-high 28 points on 10-of-18 shooting. Tatum, on the other hand, had another rough night from the floor, going just 8-of-22 for 20 points.
Smart clearly isn't pleased with how his team faltered against a surging Bulls side, who outscored the Celtics 39-11 in the fourth quarter. Talk about choking in the clutch for Boston, who now has a 2-5 record to start the season.
