Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart has been fined $35,000 by the league office after going after the officials in Tuesday's game against the Brooklyn Nets, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Smart notably was held back by his team after getting very heated from a call made by the referees. The defensive ace had to be escorted off the court after coming in hot into the officials.

Smart was called for his sixth and final foul in the fourth quarter, watching his Celtics allow 51 points in the final period in what is easily the worst collapse by this Eastern Conference powerhouse this season.

It was the first time the Celtics had allowed 50 or more points in the fourth quarter since 1972 when they allowed the Buffalo Braves put up a whopping 58, per Celtics stat man Dick Lipe.

Smart was in disbelief after the officials ruled he fouled Caris LeVert in a 3-point shot with 0.2 seconds left in the game, as LeVert, who'd go on to score a career-high 51 points in a 129-120 overtime win, would bury all three of his freebies.

This is by no means the first time Smart has gotten into it with the officials, but he got off easy by not meriting a suspension.

Smart took part in the back end of the back-to-back against the Cleveland Cavaliers, scoring 18 points in a 112-106 win to right the ship after that demoralizing loss.

He's lucky to have escaped with only a fine, considering most incidents with officials can result in a suspension.
