On Monday, the Boston Celtics took care of business against the Brooklyn Nets, as the C's secured a 112-104 home victory against the visiting Nets.

Celtics head coach Brad Stevens appeared to be in a jovial mood following his team's victory, as the 42-year-old coach decided to endow two of his players with an unlikely (and hilarious) moniker.

Stevens joked that guard Marcus Smart and big man Aron Baynes are the team's “Splash Brothers” — a nickname presently owned by Golden State Warriors' sharpshooting duo of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

When asked to give his thoughts on their newfound title, Smart could not help but appreciate his coach's sense of humor.

Both Smart and Baynes came up big for the Celtics on Monday, as the two combined for nearly half of the team's total three-pointers made on the evening. Smart went 4-of-10 from distance, while Baynes added a couple of treys, as the pair accounted for six of the team's 13 three-pointers.

Nonetheless, Smart completely understands his role with the team, and would rather keep his feet on the ground.

Smart was excellent against the Nets, and it wasn't just his defense that was on full display on the evening. As a matter of fact, he scored a team-high 21 points (tied with Jaylen Brown) on 7-of-15 from the field. The 6-foot-4 guard even chipped in two rebounds, seven assists, five steals, and two blocks, in a remarkable all-around performance.

Baynes was not bad himself, scoring 16 points off the Celtics bench on 6-of-11 shooting. The veteran big man also added six rebounds, an assist, and three blocks in just 21 minutes of action.

The Celtics are off on Tuesday, but will be back in action again on Wednesday to take on fellow Eastern Conference contenders in the Charlotte Hornets.
