Former NBA Slam Dunk Contest Champion Nate Robinson has recently shared a personal experience with Kyrie Irving the very moment Irving found out that he was traded to the Boston Celtics.

Speaking to NBC Sports, the 34-year-old narrated how delighted Irving was when he first found out about the deal being finalized, while shooting their recently released full feature film “Uncle Drew.”

“[Irving] was screaming like, ‘Yeah, it's official! Let's get it going!'” Robinson recounts. “He was really hyped and excited to get everything rolling.”

With the benefit of hindsight, we all now know how much Irving wanted out of the Cleveland Cavaliers. This anecdote gives us a glimpse of how genuinely happy Irving was at that very moment.

When asked if he gave Irving any advice about playing for the city of Boston, Robinson, who himself spent a year with the Celtics, admitted that he did try and impart some knowledge on his colleague.

“I just told him, ‘Enjoy the fans, man. They're gonna love you forever.'” added Robinson.

A recurring knee injury cut Irving's debut season with the Celtics short. Having missed the latter part of the regular season as well as the entire Playoffs, he was unable to fully establish himself as the centerpiece of one of the most storied franchises in the NBA.

Thankfully, the five-time All-Star and former NBA Champion has his whole Boston career ahead of him to prove to the Celtics faithful what he can bring to the city.
