Boston Celtics small forward Jayson Tatum avoided a serious groin injury on Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies, according to Ben Rohrbach of Yahoo Sports.

The Celtics are listing Tatum as questionable to play against the Orlando Magic on Friday:

The Celtics are 29-14 on the season after defeating the Grizzlies. They are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Tatum has appeared in 42 games this season for the Celtics. He's averaging 21.5 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 43.5 percent from the field, 36.6 percent from beyond the arc and 84.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge is starting to look really smart for not trading Tatum and Jaylen Brown for some of the superstars who have requested trades over the past few seasons. Both youngsters are playing like All-Stars this season.

The Celtics appear on their way to redeeming themselves after last season’s dysfunctional campaign which saw them lose to the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the playoffs in five games. Boston will ultimately go as far as Tatum, Brown, Kemba Walker and Gordon Hayward can lead them.

The Celtics will be cautious with Jayson Tatum moving forward since groin injuries aren't to be taken lightly. The talented scorer has career averages of 16.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists with Boston.
