Boston Celtics fans made no bones about their feelings for Kyrie Irving during Wednesday night's matchup between the Celtics and Brooklyn Nets, chanting “Kyrie sucks” during the team's intro video.

The fans were hardly done making their voices heard, however, as the chants picked back up once play officially began.

Irving is not playing in the game — his sixth consecutive absence and fifth straight “inactive” — due to a shoulder impingement which has given him problems throughout the season.

Boston fans are notorious for having some of the raciest crowds in sports, so it is no surprise that they took to jeering Irving from the jump.

Kyrie came over to the Celtics as part of the Isaiah Thomas trade prior to the start of the 2017-18 season, but he endured an extremely rocky tenure in Beantown.

Irving missed the last few months of his first year in Boston and watched the Celtics advance to the Eastern Conference Finals without him in the rotation. Things got even worse last season, as he repeatedly changed his stance on signing a potential extension while failing to get some of the young players on the same page.

Still, the Celtics swept the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the playoffs and won Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semis against the Milwaukee Bucks. However, Irving struggled tremendously as the Cs lost each of the next four games.

Ultimately, all of the drama surrounding the 2018-19 Celtics propelled Irving to sign with the Nets. But, as the clips clearly show, the fan base still harbors ill will towards Kyrie.
