Now that the offseason has started, Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart hosted his own camp for children. However, his fiery competitive spirit doesn’t allow him to “turn off,” so he proceeded to absolutely obliterate a young child off the dribble in the video below.

The Celtics have not had the offseason they were hoping for. Extending back further, the team wildly underperformed expectations in the playoffs in a rather dull second round “gentleman’s sweep” at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Now, with Kyrie Irving and Al Horford almost certainly out the door in free agency and Aron Baynes shipped out on draft night to the Phoenix Suns, the Celtics are faced with an on-the-fly rebuild. However, the team is extremely well set with a treasure trove of draft capital and a striking collection of young talent.

Even looking at the team’s three draft picks from 2019: Romeo Langford, Grant Williams, and Carsen Edwards see three highly regarded players at different stages of their careers, setting up the C’s for present and future success.

One player who is clearly here to stay is beloved Celtic Marcus Smart. One of the most energetic and devoted “hustle guys” in the entire league, Smart had the best season of his career in 2018-19 behind a renewed focus on three-pointers (career-high 61 percent three-point attempt rate), as well as an improved touch from beyond the arc (career-high 36.4 percent) per Basketball Reference.

Of course, his defense continued to be otherworldly, and he was named to his first-ever All-Defense First Team.

As for his clinic antics: Never change, Marcus; never change.
