Patrick Mahomes hasn't been having the most ideal of campaigns, but he found some semblance of self-reassurance after the Kansas City Chiefs' escape job against the Green Bay Packers in Week 9.

Mahomes made a key play in the fourth quarter that secured the Chiefs' 13-7 win over the Packers, who were missing star quarterback Aaron Rodgers due to COVID-19 issues. Mahomes let out some sort of primal scream after making the critical throw and admitted after the game that it felt pretty good (via New York Post).

“I kind of let that out, that frustration. I’d rather be walking away with a win than a lot of yards.”

The Chiefs improved to 5-4 and can still make a late rally to seal a spot in the NFL Playoffs. Having a star signal-caller like Mahomes surely helps. He, however, has struggled all season. The former Super Bowl MVP has been under 300 passing yards in each of his last three games and has only tallied two touchdowns.

Still, Mahomes isn't losing hope as the Chiefs continue to compete.

“I feel like we’re close. You can see drives here and there where we’re the team everybody knows and loves, but you have to consistently do that throughout every single drive in a game. We’re just not executing.”

Many were hoping to see Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers battle it out, but the Packers signal-caller had to sit out the contest while getting chewed on by critics for lying about his COVID-19 vaccination status.

Maybe the Chiefs and the Packers will meet again in the NFL Playoffs.
