One of the most controversial moments from last season's first-round series between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Dallas Mavericks was when Marcus Morris stepped on Luka Doncic's foot. One year on and Morris himself claims that this is now all water under the bridge.

Before anything else, here's a refresher on the incident that actually led to a sprained ankle for the Mavs star:

Morris has always maintained that it was not intentional and recently, the Clippers forward revealed that he's actually already settled the issue with Doncic:

“There is definitely a mutual respect between the court, between us as players,” Morris said, via Mirjam Swanson of the Daily Bulletin. “I told him before the game, ‘I am not into making those dirty plays and trying to hurt nobody.’

“I am a competitor first. I love taking the matchup, I love his game. I think I said that in the bubble: He is a great player in this league. I just want him to know I am there to compete, I am here – win, lose or draw – I am here to compete. And I put my hard hat on and come to work every day. I am not that type of player (to make dirty plays), so if he thought that, I just wanted him to know.

“I really didn’t have to do it, but as a man I want him to know that wasn’t on purpose and that’s not the type of player that I am.”

For his part, Doncic appeared to confirm that he and Morris have already made up:

“He’s a hell of a player, hell of a defender,” said the Mavs guard. “Trash talk is always there, and if it’s not, you’re not really competing. It’s going to be great.”

They're not exactly BFF's but it looks like all has been forgiven. Nevertheless, this does nothing to diminish what should be an intense first-round meeting between the Clippers and the Mavs.
